About the event

Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses, builds an understanding of their impact, and overviews common supports. This 8-hour course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care. The program also teaches the common risk factors and warning signs of specific types of illnesses, like anxiety, depression, substance use, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and schizophrenia.

Please note that this is an In-Person, 2-day, 4-hr per day training. At the end of the training, each participant will receive a certificate for 3 years. A 15-minute break will be provided during training. Mental Health America of San Diego County follows the guidelines provided by the County of San Diego. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or flu-like symptoms, we encourage you to register for our Virtual training or return to attend the in-person training later. If you have any questions,  contact us at (619) 543-0412 ext. 113, 114 or 121.
