About the event
Family members and personnel working with military and families are often not aware of how to engage veterans with mental illnesses and addictions. In addition to the impact of military service on the veteran, each has a circle of family (significant other, children, parents, siblings, etc.) and friends who are also impacted by their military service. Mental Health First Aid is a valuable resource that can make a difference in the lives of the more than 22 million veterans, their families, and the communities they live in. Mental Health First Aid for Military Members, Veterans and their Families teaches people how to notice and respond to signs of mental health and addiction challenges with a specific focus on the cultural factors related to military life.
Please note that this is an In-Person 1-day, 8-hr training. At the end of the training, each participant will receive a certification that is good for 3 years. Two 10-minutes break and 30-minutes for lunch will be provided. Mental Health America of San Diego County is following the guidelines provided by the County of San Diego. If you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms, have been around someone who has the COVID or waiting for test results, we will encourage you to register to our Virtual training's or return to attend the in-person training.
